The Blind Tower is an online guild for the MMORPG Dungeons and Dragons Online, which is totally free to play and everything that you can get through donating money can be attained without paying a cent (you just have to work harder
The problem with the guild system in DDO is that there are only three available ranks; Leader, Officer and Member. Frankly, the Blind Tower will not stand for this nonsense. I, the founder, want my serv... companions to be ranked according to their combat skill. So that ranking will be listed here, with the official rank of Officer being granted to the Top 10. Actually, that would be the Top 2-11, because I'm Number 1. Because I'm the founder. I spent hard earned points on this shit.
Anyway.
The rankings are as follows and, as an added bonus, any player in the Top 10 will be awarded a unique title determined by their character class. These titles can be found below the ranks.
Ranks:
2. Nickolais (Arbiter)
3. Cognal (Ironclad)
4. Aryda (Hurricane)
5. Kaicalore (Vision)
Unique Titles:
Class - Title
Barbarian - Colossus
Bard - Harlequin
Cleric - Arbiter
Fighter - Raptor
Paladin - Ironclad
Ranger - Lightning
Rogue - Vision
Sorcerer - Heron
Wizard - Mantle
Monk - Hurricane
Favoured Soul - Mist
These are purely for RP purposes, and so I can remember peoples' names better
Any applications for the guild can be directed to the character Sharyo on the Khyber server of DDO. I'm likely to say yes, so what have you got to lose? You can also contact me here, just be sure to leave sufficient details (character name, class(es), level(s), etc) and I'll notify you when you're due to be ranked and such!
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
To prevent people spamming challenges against the 10, there is a teensy-weensy cost involved in challenging a ranking opponent for their rank (whether they are Top Ten or not). It equates to your level plus your opponent's level in thousands of gold pieces. For example, if Ragnar the level 5 Barbarian challenges Boris the level 5 fighter, the total cost of the challenge would be 10,000 gold (5+5=10 x 1000= 10,000). This shouldn't be too much trouble to pay if you are roughly the same level as your opponent, and will prevent people from continuously challenging higher-levels for their ranks even though they cannot possibly win.
There are three kinds of challenge available. The type of challenge is chosen by the Challenged, although he must adhere strictly to one of the following doctrines. The Challenger is allowed to pick the Arena to fight in, however. Generally, people will specialize in certain Challenge types, so beating them in that Challenge proves your worth even more. Hooray for prestige. Anyway, the challenge types are as follows;
1) First Blood: The first kill decides the winner. It is irrelevant how the killer goes about this killing, but the first one to die is the loser, hands down, no argument.
2) To the Pain: As many kills in 10 minutes as possible. The one who emerges after 10 minutes with the most kills is the victor, regardless of how he went about it, how many times he died etc etc. Bottom line is, if you killed the opponent more times than he killed you, then you win.
3) To the Death: This challenge could theoretically be infinitely long, as it continues until one person has killed his opponent three times. Until such a time, the challenge continues.
Any attempt to back out of any of these challenges whilst they are in progress is treated as a forfeit and subsequent loss, no matter the reason or excuse given. If the challenge ends without a definite victor, then the one who pulled out is treated as the loser, and the challenge stands.
ON SUMMONS:
Apart from magical summoning (ie, Summon Monster spell), all summoned creatures or party members are forbidden. This includes Iron Defenders and such things, primarily gained from either talents or magical items, as they cannot actually be attacked in a duel situation (game function). The powers that be have chosen to allow spellcasters to magically summon creatures (although again, not defenders or spells from items) because we believe that this adds to their combat capability, which is what the ranks are intended to denote.
ON POTIONS:
All potions are allowed, unless they summon creatures to aid the player (I haven't seen one, but who knows...). Regardless of how you use them, potions are all allowed.
